Getting started · source-pinned controls
Draw confidently from the first line.
This guide describes the controls and workflows available in VerSketch today. The controls list is generated from the same source used inside the editor, so it cannot quietly drift away from the product.
Open VerSketch StudioYour first project
- Choose a template in Studio, or open a .versketch.json project file.
- Choose Device for local work or Cloud for a synchronized copy tied to your AIVerID account.
- Choose Wall, Sketch, Slab, Roof, Space or another tool. Snaps and alignment guides appear near exact targets.
- Return to Select to move, resize, duplicate or edit the selected element in Properties.
- Edits save automatically. Device projects use crash-safe local persistence; Cloud projects add revisions and version history.
- Export a VerSketch project file for a reopenable copy, or use PDF/DXF/IFC/STEP and other delivery formats.
Keep work recoverable
Device projects
Projects stay in this browser. VerSketch uses IndexedDB automatically when localStorage fills, reports storage pressure, and keeps recovery artifacts instead of silently discarding damaged data.
Cloud projects
Sign in with AIVerID for synchronized projects, snapshots, sharing and account data export. AIVerID remains a separate identity service.
Recovery Center
If VerSketch finds an interrupted draft, backup or quarantined record, the Studio and editor show a recovery notice. Restore as a copy so current work is never overwritten.
AI, checks and delivery
AI proposes; you decide
AI changes appear as a proposal. Review the geometry and warnings, then Accept or Reject. AI never commits a proposal invisibly.
Code Check is a cited hint
The current ruleset covers supported US references only. Every result links to its source; a licensed professional verifies it and the authority having jurisdiction decides.
Your work travels with you
The VerSketch JSON format reopens here. CAD, BIM, mesh and sheet formats are one-way delivery exports, so keep the project file as the editable master.
Controls
The same gesture and shortcut rows appear in the editor’s Controls sheet. Press ? in the editor to open it without leaving the canvas.
Finger
Works with a finger alone — no pen, no keyboard.
- One finger drags the plan around.
- Two fingers pinch to zoom, and move the plan at the same time.
- Finger tap selects; wall, column, door, window, furniture, light, ramp, dimension and text place with a tap. Slab, floor opening, roof, room and site zone need a pen or mouse drag.
- A finger taps and navigates; it cannot drag out a line or a shape. While the pen is drawing, touches are ignored, so a resting palm leaves no mark. Sketch and Ink take a pen or a mouse only.
- Tap the last point again to end a run of walls — the button under the plan does the same.
- Zoom in, zoom out and Fit sit at the bottom right of the plan; they step aside while a run of walls is open.
Pen & mouse
Drawing, dragging and box-select need a pen or a mouse.
- Drag with the pen to lay a wall down in one stroke, or to pull out a slab, floor opening, roof or room rectangle.
- Drag an element to move it, drag the end of a wall to reshape it, and drag a door or window to slide it along its wall.
- With Select, drag across empty canvas to box-select: drag right for whatever sits fully inside the box, drag left for everything the box touches.
- Double-click — finish a wall / dimension / ramp run
Mouse
- The wheel zooms around the pointer.
- Holding the middle button drags the plan around.
- Right-click opens actions for the object without drawing or moving it — on a Mac, Ctrl-click counts as a right click.
Keyboard
Needs a keyboard attached.
- ⌘KCtrl+K
- Command palette
- ⌘ZCtrl+Z
- Undo
- ⌘⇧ZCtrl+Shift+Z
- Redo
- ⌘DCtrl+D
- Duplicate
- DeleteBackspace
- Delete
- Esc
- Drop the wall run being drawn, cancel a move in progress, and go back to Select.
- 0–9 · . ,
- While a wall or a dimension is being aimed, type the exact length. Enter places it, Esc closes the box.
- Space
- Hold Space, then drag with the pointer to move the plan around.
- Shift
- Hold while clicking an element with the pen or the mouse to add or remove it from the selection — ⌘-click does the same on a Mac, Ctrl-click elsewhere.
